Participants march silently and directly in line with the person in front of them, at a slow pace, emulating a funeral procession (death of our democracy). We do not acknowledge passersby. We look straight ahead and are expressionless. Our Safety team will lead and flank participants, ensuring safety and providing safe street crossings. At designated points throughout the march, the formation stops, turns toward the storefronts and restaurants, and raises signs in silent witness before continuing forward. No chanting. No screaming. No chaos. Just silent, disciplined civic resistance. This visual, disciplined style of protest has drawn attention across Michigan and around the US, from both viewers and groups interested in replicating Good Trouble Indivisible's model in their own communities. We continue to mentor groups to help them add our silent protests to their event schedule. Together, we are building a Civic Resistance Ecosystem as we create public awareness with our unique brand of Silent Marches, ChalkWalks, ThinkTanks, Project 2025 Workshops, Meet Us On The Bridge! Protests, and other public awareness events. WHAT TO WEAR: Participants wear black clothing. IMPORTANT NOTES: • This is a silent march. • Please remain respectful of pedestrians and local businesses. • Signs will be provided. • Water & Protein Snacks will be provided. • Comfortable walking shoes recommended. Together we remain visible, peaceful, disciplined, and impossible to ignore. Good Trouble Indivisible hosts marches at highly visible downtown public places throughout West Michigan and mentors Michigan groups and groups across the country to perform these marches to create public awareness.
