Community Guidelines

ProtestUSA is for documenting protests and organizing peacefully. Disagree as hard as you like about ideas; don't put people in danger. These rules are part of our Terms of Use.

Not allowed

• Violence: threats, calls for violence or property destruction, or instructions for weapons or attacks.
• Doxxing: posting anyone's home address, phone number, workplace, license plate or other private details, or trying to unmask someone's account. This includes counter-protesters, police and public figures.
• Harassment and hate: targeting people for who they are, slurs, pile-ons, or encouraging others to harass someone.
• Exposing protesters: photos or video where people who aren't public speakers can be recognized, unless they agreed. Blur or crop faces.
• Deception: fake protests, fake reports, impersonating people or organizations, or deliberately false information about events (times, places, permits).
• Illegal content: anything illegal, including content sexualizing minors, which we report to the authorities.
• Spam and abuse of the site: ads, scams, malware, multiple accounts, or automated posting.
• Other people's work: posting copyrighted material you don't have the right to share.

Please do

• Report what you saw yourself, as accurately as you can, and say when you're unsure.
• Keep event threads about the event. Take sensitive planning to Signal.
• Flag posts that break these rules instead of arguing with them.

Enforcement

Moderators review new reports, protests and uploads before they're public, and act on flags. Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, suspend posting, or close the account. Threats of violence and content sexualizing minors are removed right away and may be reported to authorities. To appeal a decision, email support@protestusa.com.
