About
We are the Vienna/Fairfax chapter of over 400 Visibility Brigades around the country. As a group of volunteers, we will display large messages on the bridge at Vaden Drive over I-66 on a regular basis, starting Wednesday, September 16, to encourage early voting and other pro-democracy actions. We will provide large signs facing I-66 traffic on the bridge. Please do not post other signs (or stickers or anything permanent) on the bridge. You do not need to bring anything other than your energy. But if you want to bring hand-held signs, please display those for the traffic driving over the bridge on Vaden Drive. Other notes: - There are two garages backing onto Vaden Drive; one on the Vienna side of the highway and one on the Fairfax side. You need a credit card or metro card to exit the garages; weekday parking is $4.95. Neighborhood parking is very limited. - Bring water, hat, snacks, folding chairs, and sunscreen as needed for your own comfort. Please take any litter home with you. - Please be cautious if you cross Vaden Drive for the other side of the bridge. - There is a public restroom in the Metro station. - Check your email in case there is a last minute change. The event may be altered due to rain or extreme temperatures. - We will do one Thurs in Oct (the 22nd) because early voting at the Jim Scott Rec Center on Vaden Drive starts there Oct 22 and runs to 7 PM. - Most drivers react positively to our messaging. If you receive a negative reaction, please remain positive (or at least neutral) to avoid escalating the situation. - We must not block pedestrians getting across the bridge, so please leave room on the back end of the bridge sidewalks for pedestrians. - No weapons of any kind and no violence. - If you wish to bring friends or family members with you, they are welcome. Please familiarize them with our rules and safety tips. Our mission is to bring visibility to specific issues we're facing under the Trump regime, encourage action, and foster a sense of community for those that feel disheartened by the state of our nation. Join us and help us fight fascism! Learn more about the Visibility Brigade at www.visibilitybrigade.com
