South of the Memorial Circle between Arlington Cemetery Metro and Memorial Bridge, Arlington, Virginia

About

On October 17, join Third Act DMV for a VOTE EARLY rally between Arlington Cemetery metro and Memorial Bridge, just south of Memorial Circle. We will then march across Memorial Bridge to the Lincoln Memorial. We will end on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial overlooking the reflecting pool with a few brief remarks. The rally will feature several speakers and opportunities to check your voter registration status, confirm your polling location, and learn about DC’s animal welfare Initiative, Maryland’s redistricting referendum, and Virginia’s three Constitutional Amendments, all on this year’s ballots. Our No Kings: Vote Early to stop the Arch march will take us across Memorial Bridge and to the Lincoln Memorial, a route that is historic in its symbolism of the reunification between North and South following the Civil War. The vainglorious Arch would block this historic sightline from Arlington National Cemetery. Our march will demonstrate our support for democracy, our honoring of the past and our resistance to government overreach. Across all issues, the message will be to vote early, vote in person if possible, and turn out in numbers “too big to rig.” With music, chants, a drum brigade, puppets, and all of you, we plan to make some noise as we get out the early vote and help turn the tide for our country. Third Act DMV is a volunteer-run regional group within the national Third Act network, bringing together activists from Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The group focuses on democracy protection, climate action, and federal-level issues. *No Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters.* *A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*
