Call to Bear Witness - Vigil for Those Killed by ICE

Monday, October 19, 2026, 4:30 PM EDT
Westmere, New York

About

Guilderland Indivisible, in coordination with Capital District Border Watch, will hold a solemn, silent vigil to honor the lives of those unlawfully detained, deported, and murdered by ICE. This will be different from our weekly gathering as it is a vigil and not a protest. We will dress in black (or wear black armbands) and silently hold signs with the pictures of those who were killed or died in ICE custody during 2025 and 2026. Please come to the southeast corner of Rt 155 and Rt 20 to pick up a sign and a flower. Black armbands will be available for those without black clothing. We will then spread out along Route 20 and in  respect, maintain silence. At 5:30, we will gather to hear the reading of the names of those being remembered.  We will end the vigil by placing our flowers in a vase to be placed at a memorial location.
