About
**Join Action Together NEPA for this local No Kings: Vote Early event!** This time around, No Kings actions will look a little different — that's a good thing! Instead of large scale rallies, we're hosting opportunities to take action and get out the vote. Let's help folks make their plan to vote, whether that means finding a drop box, voting on-demand at a county polling site, or getting their ballot in the mail with enough time to arrive by Election Day! **We're taking the power that we've built in NEPA over the last two years and turning it into action.** We'll have a brief speaking program, get everyone fired up, then split off into ways that attendees can help Get Out The Vote! **Featured Speakers: ** - Rabbi Daniel Swartz, Spiritual Leader, Temple Hesed - Amber Viola, Veteran, Social Worker, & Activist After brief remarks to center attendees on the mission of the day, we'll encourage attendees to make their voting plan, encourage their networks to do the same, and even take their ballots to the nearby drop box! We'll be at Courthouse Square in Scranton, then we'll invite folks to head to Black & Brass for some GOTV activity! We encourage all attendees to support the downtown Scranton businesses while you're in the area for No Kings. Let's truly make this a day of community! Note: this event is crossposted on Mobilize on the national No Kings map so more folks can find it! If you see it there, please be aware that yes, it's all the same event! **We decide who represents us. We decide what comes next.** For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law. Now, we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17th, it's a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing our community together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard. Because no one person gets to decide our leaders before voters do. On October 17th, join us in local events across the country as we get out the early vote and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings. No Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters. A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
