About
WEDNESDAY, MAY 27 Join IFT officers President Stacy Davis Gates, Executive Vice President Cyndi Oberle-Dahm, Secretary-Treasurer Pankaj Sharma, Membership Secretary John Miller, and IFT members from across the state for a major day of action in Springfield. WHAT TO EXPECT 10:30 am: Meet at the Howlett Building (501 S. 2nd St.) for orientation and lunch when you arrive. Noon: Rally at the Capitol Rotunda. 1–3pm: Opportunities to speak directly with your state legislators. VIRTUAL ORIENTATION Join us for a virtual orientation on Thursday, May 21 at 5:00 PM to get prepped for the day. Registration link will be sent to all attendees. WHY THIS MATTERS As budget negotiations continue in Springfield, this is a critical moment for our schools, students, universities, and communities. IFT members have been clear about what Illinois needs: full funding for education and public services, paid for by taxing the wealthiest, not by giving corporations special deals. On Lobby Day, IFT members will urge legislators to: • Fully fund K–12 schools, higher education, and public services • Reject megaproject tax giveaways that drain school revenue • Advance fair, progressive revenue options so the wealthiest pay their share. BE A PART OF THIS MOVEMENT Join us in Springfield on May 27th to raise our voices for educators in their fight for economic justice. Lunch will be provided for registered attendees.
