About

# Good Trouble Lives On # Rights for One - Rights for ALL # ## TEACH ### the critical fight for our freedom to vote ## REACH ### out to neighbors to join us ## PREACH ### To our loved ones the moral necessity to carry the torch for the civil rights movement Six years after the passing of Congressman John R. Lewis, we must continue the fight for voting rights with _Good Trouble - Necessary Trouble_, the act of coming together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice. The power of collective peaceful action resulted in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and we must maintain that same collective action to fight for voting rights, civil rights, and justice today. This year pro-democracy patriots will honor the Congressman Lewis’s legacy and we will carry the torch of the civil rights movement by doing what he loved most - organizing, educating, and taking action. In the months of June and July Oconee County residents have: Started the Vote America Campaign taken personal proclamations; learned to Build Beloved Communities; initiated talks with family and friends about racism; discovered the damage that hate and privilege does to ones self worth; faced the damage it does to relationships in our community; and become leaders to nurture higher values of unity within Oconee County. This rally is the culmination of a month of reflection and discovery. We will lift up the higher values of inclusion, respect, equal rights, civil rights and voting rights. Join our joyful celebration of the inspiration we all see in the life of John Lewis. Let us all aspire to follow his loving example to protect democracy and equal rights for ALL in America. Our personal and collective dedication to sustained action will overwhelm the autocrats and restore America’s forward movement toward inclusion and justice for all. The next 250 years we will do amazing things because we will start having affirmed (and codified) the right of all to equal privilege and rights free of discrimination and injustice.
