About
On Monday, July 13th, Joan Sebastian Guerrero was shot and killed by ICE shortly after leaving his house on his way to work. The Department of Homeland Security initially said that Joan had “weaponized” his vehicle, an excuse that DHS has used repeatedly in the past trying to justify the deaths of both Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Renee Good. Unsurprisingly, they later changed their story. Joan, who was in the U.S. legally with a work permit and a social security number, wasn’t even the subject of the ICE agents’ investigation, per DHS. The indiscriminate targeting, terrorizing, and killing of immigrants and US citizens must end. We must demand accountability from both ICE and the Trump administration. We cannot stand by while friends, family, and neighbors are gunned down in the street by our government. Ozaukee Indivisible will be dedicating our protest on Saturday, July 18 to Joan Sebastian Guerrero and all other victims of ICE. Please join us in Cedarburg from 10-11am. Gather in front of the Community Center Gym/City Hall on Washington Ave (W63 N641 Washington Ave - Please park behind the gym/city hall). Please join our email list so you can stay up to date on all future protests and community events. https://ozaukeeindivisible.org/get-involved/ Ozaukee Indivisible is committed to nonviolent civic engagement. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at our events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
