About
On June 14, a nationwide day of action will take place in support of the First Amendment and democratic values. While many groups will be participating in events associated with the No Kings movement, Upper Perk Democrats will be hosting our own independently organized, parallel event. In Upper Perk, our style is action. Rather than hosting a watch party, we will be holding a peaceful protest from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to stand up for free speech, democracy, and the constitutional rights of all Americans. The protest concludes with plenty of time to head home, get comfortable, and enjoy the evening's concert or other events. Although this is not an official No Kings event, we share the commitment to peaceful, nonviolent civic engagement. We expect all participants to act lawfully, treat others with respect, and help de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who may disagree with our views. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to the event. Bring your signs, your energy, and your commitment to protecting the freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment. We hope you'll join us.
