Monona Defends Democracy and the Constitution

Monona Defends Democracy and the Constitution will be at the corner of Monona Drive and Nichols Road. Every other Saturday: June 27, July 11, July 25, August 8. 10 – 11 am. Nichols Road and Monona Drive. Join us. You are not alone. We are not the crazy ones. We are not the ones bent on destroying democracy, ignoring the rule of law, and creating a fascist authoritarian state. If you are not angry and disgusted, you are not paying attention. Everyday our government....think about that: it is OUR government...does something abhorrent and atrocious to destroy democracy and the values, norms and law of the Constitution: . Things like - Eliminating majority black congressional districts, - Continuing a never-ending pointless and expensive ($29 billion and counting) war, - Increasing food prices, - Pushing gasoline prices up and up, - New attacks on women's rights and abortion, - More and more efforts to restrict our right to vote, - More cruelty, - Attacks on alternative energy, the environment, endangered species, migrating birds, - Ignoring science, - Attacking life-saving vaccines, - Killing thousands around the world by cutting off humanitarian aid, - Policies that only benefit the ultra-wealthy, giving more power to billionaires - Still more cruelty, - More meanness, - More degradation of civil discourse. The list goes on. And on. And on. We cannot stop our efforts. The giant of popular opinion grows more powerful every day. We are pissed off. We are standing in opposition to this regime, and we are letting our neighbors know that they are not alone in their opposition. Join us. Every other Saturday: June 27, July 11, July 25, August 8. 10 – 11 am. Nichols Road and Monona Drive. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
