About
# Faith, Freedom, and Democracy ### Christian Nationalism's Influence in Tarrant County and Across Texas On August 8, 2026, the League of Women Voters and our partners are hosting a nationwide day of civic action in honor of the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Join us in Fort Worth with faith leaders, election experts, and free-speech advocates for a panel discussion on issues of church and state, religious influence in our government, and the rise of religious nationalism. Afterward, learn from our partner organizations how you can become civically engaged on these issues and more. With panelists **Dr. Perry Crenshaw**, [NAACP Arlington](https://arlingtonnaacp.com/); **Chris and Mendi Tackett**, [See it. Name it. Fight it.](https://seeitnameitfightit.com/); and **Laney Hawes**, [Texas Freedom to Read Project](https://www.txftrp.org/), and moderator **Estrus Tucker**, DEI Consultants. ## In Proud Collaboration with our Partners: [AAUW of Tarrant County](https://tarrantcounty-tx.aauw.net/) [Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
