About
Preceding the Juneteenth event to be held at the Albany Civic Center from 1:00-6:00. Please join Dougherty Loves Democracy at our next Honk & Wave visibility event! We will be exercising our first amendment right to protest. Gather with us at the corner of Pine Avenue and Slappy Boulevard in Albany, GA. The event will begin at 10:30 AM and end sharply at 12 noon. We encourage anyone who’s interested to attend the Juneteenth celebration event beginning at 1 PM at Albany Civic Center. The theme of the Honk & Wave is celebrating Juneteenth, American Freedom, and Voter Rights. There are so many things we are protesting. The hot topics right now include the local issue of Data Center Moratoriums & regulations, and National issues like Detention Centers and Gerry Mandering. Choose a positive message or pick your worst atrocity—but keep it classy! It’s gonna be hot, so please wear sunscreen and stay hydrated. Water will be provided but it never hurts to bring some of your own as well. Security will be provided. We ask that everyone attending our event seek to peacefully deescalate all conflicts/confrontations. The event will end at noon sharp. Please contact Becca with any questions or concerns! *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
