About

Join the Salmonberry Trail on a 4 mile (2 miles in and back) hike on the historical railroad line. We will hike through the tunnel, bring your headlamp! We will talk about the local flora and fauna (there's salamanders in the pond)! Plus learn about the fascinating history of the town of Cochran. We will meet at Reeher's Camp and carpool/caravan to Cochran Pond. **What to wear and bring:** Please dress for the weather and wear hiking boots (it might be slick in some spots). Bring a snack and plenty of water for yourself. It is tick season so bug spray and long pants are highly recommended **Getting to Reehers** - Drive Highway 26 west (or east, depending on where you start) toward Timber Road (just past milepost 38). - Turn left (south) onto Timber Road, follow for 3 miles into the rural community of Timber. - Turn right (west) onto Cochran Road in Timber. - Reehers Camp is 2.2 miles down Cochran Road, a well-maintained gravel road. Drive slowly and respectfully through Timber. - Park at the Reehers Camp Day Use Area -- on the left past the campground. Restrooms are available at the parking area, and there is no fee to park, but it is day-use only—no overnight parking or camping allowed.
