About

Pride started as a protest before it was ever a celebration. In the years since the Stonewall Revolution, queer liberation has come a long way. Without so many brave trans folk, queer folk, and their allies fighting for our rights, we'd never had made as much progress as we have today. And just because Pride Month is over does not mean the fight is. Just this week, Trump-installed sycophants to legislate transgender people and the rest of the LGBTQIA+ community out of existence and push our youth further into the shadows, causing intentional and unnecessary harm to their families and communities. In a 6-3 decision, the justices have further greenlit discrimination of not just transgender youth but all LGBTQIA+ people and it empowers states across the country to pass legislation targeting transgender youth and the LGBTQIA+ community at large. The stakes could not be higher. The Trevor Project reports that in a 2024 national survey, “90% of LGBTQIA+ youth said their well-being was negatively impacted due to recent politics.” Anti-gay state laws directly cause significant increases in suicide attempts by transgender and all LGBTQIA+ youth by as much as 72%. Instead of helping make folks’ lives But the fight is not over. In 2026 alone, 63 anti-trans laws have passed. 664 are active. Conversion therapy is legal for minors in 22 states. The Department of Homeland Security declared "transgender ideology" as terrorism. The federal government took down the Stonewall monument. The attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community are only getting worse. But we continue the fight that Marsha P Johnson started in 1969. With Pride Month at an end, we need remind everyone that trans and queer people have always, and will always exist. We deserve liberty, too, and we will not stop fighting until we get it. We're here and we're queer and we're not going anywhere. Please bring signs, flags, clothing, or anything else you may need to demonstrate your solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. This demonstration is welcome to all members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies.
