Get In Good Trouble. 🗓 Friday, July 17th ⏰ 4:00 – 6:00 PM 📍 I-75 Champaign Overpass | Lincoln Park 🚗 Parking available at Lincoln Park High School or the Dollar Store nearby Five years ago this month, we lost one of the greatest champions of democracy this country has ever known. On July 17, 2020, Congressman John Lewis — civil rights icon, Freedom Rider, and the conscience of Congress — left this world. But his spirit? His mission? His mandate? That lives on. Right here. Right now. On this bridge. John Lewis stood on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama on March 1, 2020 and told us to "Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and redeem the soul of America." Today, Indivisible: Downriver United 734 is taking that call seriously — and we're taking it to the overpass. Join us as we line the I-75 Champaign Overpass in Lincoln Park with signs, voices, and the kind of visible, joyful, necessary resistance that John Lewis gave his life for. We're showing Downriver — and everyone driving under that bridge — that this community is awake, engaged, and ready to fight. Bring your signs. Bring your voice. Bring your energy. And bring a friend — because the best way to honor John Lewis is to show up exactly like he did. The vote is precious. It is almost sacred.
