About
IN JUST FIVE DAYS - 10,000 NEIGHBORS ARRESTED, 10,000 FAMILIES DISRUPTED JOIN Indivisible Lincoln City in a rally to STOP THE ICE SURGE Friday, July 17th, 5 – 6 pm S Hwy 101 in front of Lincoln City Outlet Mall 1500 SE East Devils Lake Rd, Lincoln City, OR 97367 This moment demands our attention. Arriving tourists, workers driving home at rush hour, and shoppers NEED to know that ICE is escalating this summer. It began quietly, ICE moving with stealth, determined to increase detentions. In just five days at the end of June, 10,000 people were “disappeared” across the country, quickly doubling the daily rate. And, in Oregon, June detentions were twice what they were in May and over three times what they were in April. ICE continues its pattern of unchecked violence as it accelerates it's efforts. On July 7th, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot by ICE in Houston, Texas. On July 13th, a young man from Colombia was killed by ICE in Biddeford, Maine. Killing is part of a broader pattern of abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities. Spread the word. Bring neighbors, friends, family. Stand up for your immigrant neighbors. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. This an Indivisible Lincoln City event. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
