KILLED BY ICE, NEVER FORGET

On July 24th, at 6 pm, Indivisible VOC Bell Rock Resistance, in conjunction with Indivisible Sedona and After the March Indivisible, will hold a candlelight vigil and anti ICE protest in the Village of Oak Creek, south of Sedona at the Jacks Canyon Roundabout. The weekend will have protests and events across the nation. Let’s start if off right! Deadly force is being by Trump’s private goon squads - or as DHS calls them ICE and CBP ‘agents’. These shootings & beatings are unnecessary, unwarranted and against all legitimate law enforcement use of force rules. When they happen, the ‘agents’ lie, blame the victim, and disappear before they can be identified. Murder and serious assaults during traffic stops are becoming too commonplace in our country and these criminals are being protected by our own government. What would you do if a big black SUV came up behind you and forced you off the road? Masked big men, no IDs, no badge numbers, names or insignias and they start yelling at you to GET OUT OF THE CAR. I, for one, would not comply. I’ve been taught, warned and told to drive slowly to a safe, populated place before getting out. We’ve seen the results of these types of encounters. Car windows shattered, people dragged out of their cars and beaten, kicked, punched, disappeared. Americans shot and killed while still in their vehicles. Those enforcing our immigration laws must also obey the law. Nationwide vigils for the most recent MURDER victims of ICE, and protests against the brutality and tactics being used against Americans, are happening every day. Our summer heat precludes a daytime protest for many but I think this cause is appropriate for a candlelight vigil to remember those murdered by ICE and CBP since DJT took office in 2025. 75 people dead so far (probably more) at the hands of ICE patrols or in detention centers operated on behalf of our government and no arrests, no charges and no justice for the victims. These now dead Americans were not the ‘worst of the worst’ but our neighbors, friends, and productive members of our society. This goes against everything that America is or should be. Let your congressmen know to claw back the grotesque amount of funding passed by Republicans and then stand with your friends and neighbors on July 24th to show this is won’t go unnoticed and won’t be forgotten. We will provide water, security, LED vigil candles and black signs or bring your own. Wear something black or an armband. We will make a statement and have a sing along with Amazing Grace! Until justice prevails we will keep showing up
