Citizens Bank: Stop Funding ICE Prisons

Saturday, August 8, 2026, 10:00 AM EDT
Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania

About

Citizens Bank has announced that it plans to cut financial ties with CoreCivic and GEO group, the two largest for-profit prison companies, operating dozens of ICE detention centers across the country! Join us Saturday, August 8, at 10 AM for our final protest at the Bryn Mawr branch of Citizens bank on Saturday, August 8, where we will be joined by members of Lower Merion Indivisible. We will celebrate our victory and send a message to Citizens that we’re going to be keeping an eye on them! Citizens Financial Group, through subsidiaries like Citizens Bank, has long financed private prison and detention operators despite decades of allegations of abuse, neglect, forced labor, and fraud. Companies like CoreCivic and GEO Group have caused widespread harm — including wrongful deaths, medical neglect, and exploitation. Right here in Pennsylvania, GEO operates the Moshannon Valley Processing Center, the largest ICE detention facility in the Northeast, just three hours from Montgomery County. Join us-- and others statewide-- to tell Citizens Bank that we want them to stop supporting cruelty. A core principle behind our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
