Lincoln City Vigil for Lorenzo & Johan.

On Saturday, July 25th, we will join the nation to mourn the lives of those taken by ICE. As a community, we need this moment. All are welcome, regardless of what you do - or don't - believe. We need to be together. Come to Dorchester Park, 7 - 8 pm, for a candlelight vigil. We will listen to music, say the names, tell the stories of those killed by ICE violence. On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston while driving a work van with his crew. On July 13, ICE fatally shot 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine — his wife and toddler forced to witness his murder. Both men were beloved members of their communities, killed on their way to work. We will mourn their deaths and those of the 21 others who have lost their lives at the hands of ICE this year alone. We will light candles, say their names, tell their stories as well as others. Take a moment. Grieving this loss will strengthen our resolve. Join us for this vigil. Lorenzo, Johan, and the all the rest deserve justice. *A core principle behind all Indivisible & Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*
