About
Volunteer with Indivisible Western Queens for a very special Visibility Brigade in Astoria Park! On August 17, the NYC Parks Department is hosting a Free Movie On The Waterfront... Hamilton!!! So let's take advantage of the large, pro-American democracy crowd that will be gathering on the lawn in Astoria Park between the Hell Gate Bridge and the pool and show them what joyful resistance to authoritarianism looks like in 2026 before they go back in time to 1776. We could use 10 - 12 volunteers to help hold the letters of our Visibility Brigade message that will draw people over to our table, or be stationed at our table to talk to people about IWQ, election defense, and protecting immigrants. Talking points will be provided. We'll be stationed near the bocce courts (walk from 23rd Ave toward Shore Blvd / the East River. The Charybdis Playground will be to your left). Please arrive at 6:45pm so we can get ready for a 7pm start. We’ll go until 8:15pm, at which point you can find a spot to watch the movie (we recommend you bring a blanket or chair) or head home! For more information on the movie viewing, check out this website: https://www.nycgovparks.org/events/2026/08/17/free-movie-on-the-waterfront-hamilton
