Louisville KY - Vigil to Demand Justice for Lorenzo. Justice for Johan. Justice for All. ICE Out.

Big Four Bridge, Louisville, Kentucky

About

On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston while driving a work van with his crew. On July 13, ICE fatally shot 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine — his wife and toddler forced to witness his murder. Both men were beloved members of their communities, killed on their way to work. Join us for a vigil to demand Justice for Lorenzo. Justice for Johan. Justice for All. ICE Out. This is a vigil, not a protest. We will be meeting at the base of the Big Four Pedestrian Bridge at Louisville Waterfront Park. We will begin with a prayer vigil in remembrance of Lorenzo and Johan and other victims of ICE violence. We will proceed across the bridge in a silent vigil with additional prayers on the bridge. This event is sponsored by the following organizations: Kentucy Citizens for Democracy, The League of Women Voters of Louisville, Sharp Objects, Indivisible, First Unitarian Church, Worker's Circle, and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The event will be held rain or shine. However, if severe weather is imminent we will consider adjusting the schedule. *A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*
