Crandall Park, Glens Falls, New York
About
We come together as a community to mourn the latest victims of ICE and grieve for their families left behind. On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston while driving a work van with his crew. On July 13, ICE fatally shot 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine — his wife and toddler forced to witness his murder. Lorenzo and Johan were beloved members of their communities who were killed on their way to work, one to a job site, the other to start his day as a food delivery driver. Both killed by ICE agents spreading fear, sowing chaos, and inflicting violence. Join us for a vigil to demand **Justice for Lorenzo. Justice for Johan. Justice for All. ICE Out.** This event is timed to start as this week’s summer concert series at Crandall Park concludes and concert attendees are leaving the park. **We will provide candles for participants to hold, and we will have luminaries to represent each of our neighbors whose lights have been extinguished by the brutality of ICE agents on the streets and by the subhuman treatment received in the detention camps.** It will be getting dark, so don’t worry about bringing signs! **We must not let these deaths be forgotten nor go unanswered!** *A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.* **Southern Adirondack Action Indivisible**- - is a local chapter of [Indivisible](http://Indivisible.org). *We create opportunities and platforms for ordinary citizens to demand a humane, democratic society through fun, visible, impactful actions around the Southern Adirondack Region.*
