About
**UNITE & RISE FOR VOTING RIGHTS** Democracy works best when we show up together! On August 8, join us for Unite & Rise for Voting Rights, a nationwide day of action honoring the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. We invite you to join us in love, solidarity, and community at Blairsville’s Park & Ride. It doesn’t matter who you voted for, everyone’s welcome and we encourage you to bring a friend! We are gathering to show our neighbors we support strengthening voter participation and protecting the freedom to vote. Together, we rise! Prior to our sign-waving, we’ll be offering Voter Check-Ups which include helping people: • register to vote at https://georgia.gov/register-vote • understand ID requirements at https://sos.ga.gov/page/georgia-voter-identification-requirements • verify voter registration, and all of the below, at https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/ • update name and address • find polling locations • learn important election dates • locate official election information To make participation easy, we have voting rights focused, handmade signs to share. If you choose to make your own signs, we encourage positive messages focused on voting rights: defending them, their importance, and why everyone should care. Please help us show our neighbors that we honor the humanity within each other and don’t need profanity to express ourselves. When: Saturday, August 8th, 2026, 11:30 am - 1 pm What: Voter Check-Ups at Blairsville Park & Ride, 11:30 am - 12 pm Sign waving on 515, 12 - 1 pm Provided: Help making sure you’re ready to vote, voting focused signs, and a welcoming community - we love to meet new people! Where: Blairsville Park & Ride, 391 Blue Ridge Hwy, Blairsville, GA 30512 Parking: Please use the Park & Ride lot. We ask you to bring a small plastic bag & pick up any trash in your parking spot before leaving the event. Our nonviolent movement’s vibe is smiling and waving to all passersby, NOT engaging with negativity. De-escalation is always our priority and declining to respond is typically the safest way to do so. Event safety is being coordinated with the Blairsville Police Department and Union County Sheriff’s Office. *A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*
