About

Wednesday, August 12th, 10am-11:30am, BELMONT, NC Many voters believe the SAVE Act is strictly about showing an ID when voting. IT IS NOT! This "fair" hosted by Tim Moore is a publicity stunt to mask the UNfair impact of the SAVE Act on voters. Join us as we support Indivisible Gaston at Tim Moore's Passport Fair to raise awareness that *VERY FEW* IDs meet the identification requirements of the SAVE Act. A NC REAL ID does NOT meet the criteria required by the SAVE Act. You can get on a plane with your NC REAL ID but you cannot vote using your NC REAL ID! Why? The NC REAL ID is NOT proof of citizenship because REAL IDs can be issued to non-citizens who are lawfully present in the country. The SAVE Act, as currently written, will disqualify millions of legal US citizens from voting. Anyone who does not have a passport OR does not have a federal, state, or tribal government Photo ID with a name identical to their certified birth certificate will not be able to vote. Certified birth certificates contain a raised, embossed, or multicolored government seal. Copies of birth certificates are not sufficient. It costs a minimum of $65 to obtain a passport card. Applications would need to be submitted by Friday, September 4 to have a chance of delivery by election day. Expedited delivery would add $60 more and expedited applications would need to be submitted by Friday, September 18 to have a chance of delivery by election day. There is nothing fair about the SAVE Act. Please help us send a message to voters and to Tim Moore about how Unfair the SAVE Act is! Signs should focus on the SAVE Act and voting rights. Good Reminders: Indivisible CLT/Indivisible Gaston is committed to peaceful, non-violent protesting. We do not engage with those that have opposing views, and we work to de-escalate as situations arise. Please review the guidelines: https://tinyurl.com/ICLTProtestGuide Remember to “SWARM”! - Signage – Positive & appropriate that does not include profanity, incite violence or include hate symbols like swastikas - Water – Stay hydrated and bring a water bottle - American Flag – Be sure to bring one! - Reminder to park in appropriate locations - Music – Have music on hand for a fun vibe!
