US District Courthouse - Oakland, Oakland, California
About
Bay Area! Join us on Monday, August 3rd at 2 PM outside the Oakland US District Courthouse. We’re showing up to remind the parties as they enter the courtroom that the people oppose the merger of Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery -- as the court rules on whether to issue a preliminary injunction to block the merger. *What's at stake:* District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín, based in Oakland, blocked Paramount Skydance’s purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery for 14 days, ruling that the proposed $111-billion merger “raises serious questions” about whether it would violate U.S. antitrust law. The judge granted the request for a temporary restraining order made by a coalition of 12 state attorneys general, led by California AG Rob Bonta. The order paused the deal for 14 days. On August 3, Judge Martínez-Olguín will consider a motion for a preliminary injunction — which, if granted, would tie up the deal for months in advance of a trial. (This is what we want!) *We need to be out in force to show that the people oppose this merger.* We’re going to keep showing up to #BlockTheMerger because our artistic freedom can’t be bought by billionaires and authoritarians! We will be rallying in support of labor rights, freedom of expression, art, consumer rights and democratic principles. Please join us and help spread the word! Here's the address: 1301 Clay St, Oakland, CA 94612 - Oakland US District Courthouse. *Bring signs and bring your friends.* Thanks and hope to see you there!
