Pedestrian Bridge over Rt-50, Bowie, Maryland
About
On Saturday August 15th from 12-2pm, we join the national Visibility Brigade movement for Be Brave Day! A chance to encourage our community to protect democracy by proclaiming "be brave with us and we'll stand with you!". August 15th is also the first birthday of our IBBMD Visibility Brigade chapter! Join us for a celebration of a year of comradery and patriotism with cake, inflatables, and friends! We will be on the pedestrian bridge over Route 50. If you can't make the full time, no worries, come when you can! Bring your flags, water, sunscreen, families, and energy. Help bring attention to important issues and let your neighbors and commuters know they are not alone in fighting back against authoritarianism. Our team will bring the message in the form of large letter signs. Two parking options. For those with mobility issues, please park behind the Hampton Inn in the old theatre lot. Follow the paved path through the chain-link fence, then turn left onto the pedestrian trail to reach the bridge. Approximately a 4-minute walk. For those able to walk farther, please park in the Park and Ride off Northview Drive. Continue down Northview to access the trail (turn left) and continue to the bridge. Approximately an 8-minute walk. Sign-ups are not mandatory but are encouraged so you can receive updates. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
