About

## March on Washington: Defend the Vote As America marks its 250th anniversary, we face a defining choice: **Will our nation live up to its promise of liberty and justice for all—or allow wealth, prejudice, and power to push us backward?** On **Friday, August 28, 2026**, people from across the country will gather at the **Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.**, for the **March on Washington: Defend the Vote**. Convened by the National Action Network and the Drum Major Institute and co-chaired by **Reverend Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King III, and Arndrea Waters King**, this historic gathering will honor the 63rd anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington while mobilizing around **Voting Rights, Economic Dignity, and Affordability**. This is more than a commemoration—it is a call to action. Join this peaceful, nonpartisan, interfaith, and intergenerational gathering as we defend the right to vote, demand dignity and opportunity for every community, and build a democracy rooted in equality and power to the people. **Attend in person, watch the livestream, volunteer, or become a partner. We are not gathering simply to remember history—we are gathering to make it.** **Please note: This is a peaceful gathering.** We do not condone violence in any form, nor do we encourage anyone to break the law. Our work is rooted in peaceful advocacy and the exercise of our constitutional rights—including voting, free speech, peaceful assembly, rallies, and protest. We use these time-honored tools, as generations of Americans have before us, to defend our rights, freedoms, the rule of law, and our democracy. Together, we will protect the right to vote and build an America that lives up to its promise of liberty and justice for all.
