About
Due to the physical space's limited capacity, we have closed registrations for the teach-in, but we strongly invite you to join our public action! At around 7:30 pm today, August 19, we will rally outside the fusion center, known as the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC), located at 450 Golden Gate Ave, San Francisco, CA 94102. Please note: This location is a federal building, which may pose security risks due to the increased surveillance and close proximity to law enforcement locations. Our rally is considered a “green”/low-risk action, as we have designated speakers and chants. We will also have security volunteers to support the event’s safety. If you do not feel comfortable attending the rally, we completely understand, and we hope you can stay connected to join our future events! ______ Join us for Flock Out of San Francisco Teach-In and Rally! We’re hoping to launch our campaign against mass surveillance and automated license plate readers (ALPRs) in our city, with a quick walk to and rally at the Bay Area “fusion center”! Overwhelming evidence shows that local agencies across the country and Flock have grossly mishandled our personal ALPR data by sharing info with ICE, racially profiling Black and Brown communities, stalking religious minorities, targeting people seeking reproductive and gender affirming care, and harassing individuals exercising their First Amendment rights to protest. Working hand in glove with Flock are a network of shadowy “fusion centers” that collect, analyze, and distribute massive amounts of highly personal information, including our ALPR data, to federal, state, and local agencies and private corporations. One of these fusion centers is located right in San Francisco and was the source of a data breach that allowed the feds to improperly access Flock! After the teach-in, we’ll walk over to the fusion center and hold a brief rally to say: Mass surveillance does not keep our public safe, but endangers all our residents.
