About
Support the DFL by participating in Newport Pioneer Day Celebration on Saturday, August 8th! SD53 will march in the parade AND have a table at Pioneer Park (near the end of the route). **We are looking for people to help with one or both of these opportunities.** We want a HUGE showing for the parade! We will be carrying signs, handing out candy, and having fun! At Pioneer Park we will have a table and talk to voters about the DFL, our candidates, and voting. Prior experience not required. Set up for the Pioneer Day table will be at 9:00 AM, and teardown starts at 4:00 PM in Pioneer Park (611 4th Avenue, Newport, MN 55055). Please sign up for a shift [here](https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0445A8A82CA3FCC52-64677274-sd53#/). The parade lineup will begin at 10:00 AM for an 11:30 AM start time. The parade route starts at Lions Park (155 20th St, Newport, MN 55055). We are unit #17 and will be located on the corner of 20th St and 1st Ave. Parade marshals will help you find the SD53 unit. Please register so we can keep you updated. The parade will run 2nd Ave. southbound to 17th St., turn left (east) onto 17th St. Turn right (south) onto 4th Ave. S. and take 4th Ave all the way past Pioneer Park, turn left (East) onto 5th or 4th St to leave the parade route. You can see more information about Newport Pioneer Day Celebrations [here](https://www.newportpioneerday.com/). Prepared and paid for by SD53.
