About

In July, more than 150 people gathered at the Marin County Civic Center to follow in the footsteps of John Lewis, and to highlight the injustices being done in our name – to voting rights, to immigrants, to those struggling to make ends meet as Trump redistributes money to the oligarchs and eliminates many of the safety nets that have been in place for decades. We’re taking Lewis’s words to heart and **vow to “never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”** Join us again at the Civic Center, this Sunday and the second Sunday of every month. This high-visibility event will reach more than 10,000 people attending the farmers market and the French Market. **For October 11, we have a vote early plan.** We will have people stationed at each of the two drop boxes (one under the first arch on Peter Behr Dr and one on third arch closest to the jail). We will also have people stationed at two locations on Civic Center Drive which lead to the first and third arches. **All locations will have signage promoting voting early at a drop box.** At the two stations on Civic Center Drive we will distribute action sheets and election recommendations. At the drop boxes, we will give out "I Voted Early" buttons to everyone who puts their ballot in the drop box. _A core principle behind all Resist & Defend events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events._ _This is a no-host event. An ad hoc group of citizen volunteers are facilitating this opportunity for Marin residents to peacefully and safely assemble in line with their First Amendment rights._ _All participants agree to assume 100% responsibility for their own safety, conduct and well-being.
