About
Join Indivisible Cenla Activism for a National Day of Action - ICE Out event we stand in solidarity with immigrant families. Across the country, people are gathering outside ICE facilities, local jails, courthouses, and other public areas to shine a light on the erosion of due process and the rise of authoritarian overreach. Together, we affirm that justice, compassion, and the rule of law must apply to everyone—regardless of immigration status. Alexandria has become a hotbed of ICE activity, with Alexandria International Airport (AEX) and the GEO Staging Facility overseeing more deportations and transport of people in detention than anywhere else in the country. Construction has also begun on the detention center for families and unaccompanied minors on the same site. Our demand as a community is to stop the opening of this detention center. The government’s attacks on immigrants are not only tearing families apart—they are setting dangerous precedents that threaten the constitutional rights of all Americans. When due process is denied to one group, the foundation of democracy itself is weakened. By coming together in public, peaceful resistance, we send a clear message: our communities believe in fairness, dignity, and accountability. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
