About
_⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a volunteer signup page for Powered by People's voter mobilization team. Signing up here will register you as a volunteer to work the event, not as a general attendee for the rally itself. Because we are partnering with an active campaign, all schedule details and locations are subject to change until finalized by the campaign. We will send out confirmed logistics closer to the event date._ ### Ready to do the work that actually works? In 2024, our face-to-face voter registration model achieved a massive 79% voter turnout among the Texans we registered. We aren't just hoping for change—we have the blueprint to create it. Join Powered by People for the **Talarico for Texas** rally in Killeen**! We are showing up as volunteers to this event to fire up the rally attendees, spark personal conversations, and build lasting progressive power through relational organizing. At this event, we will: - Engage directly with passionate rally attendees and community members - Check voter registration statuses on the spot (ensuring no one has been purged) - Connect with voters using **Reach**, our relational organizing tool, so we can personally stay in touch with them all the way to Election Day ### Voter Registrar Requirements - **All volunteers are welcome!** There are plenty of vital roles for everyone, _whether you are certified or not_. - **Important Note**: If you want to physically register voters or update registrations at this event, you **MUST** be a certified Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) in at least **Bell County**. - _Not certified yet?_ Don't worry! You can get certified ahead of time by signing up for our [VDR Training](https://www.mobilize.us/poweredxpeople/event/908495/). ### Shift Schedule & Flow To ensure a smooth and high-impact event, we ask all volunteers to arrive **1 hour before doors open** so that we can optimize working the line of attendees. They will be lining up way in advance, and our goal is to check voter registrations for everyone waiting to get in. Here is what to expect during your shift: [5:30-6:00pm]: Setup & Team Huddle | Arrive early to grab your materials, meet the site leads, and align on our goals [6:00-7:00pm] Working the Line (Part 1) | As the crowd grows ahead of doors opening, we will start engaging the very first people in line and continue moving down the line to check registration statuses and get folks set up on Reach. [7:00-7:30pm]: Venue Mobilization | Once doors open, we continue to work the line and shift to the venue to catch any remaining attendees and trickling community members before the main programming starts. [7:30-8:30pm]: Stay for the event! | Once the programming begins, volunteers are invited and encouraged to stay, enjoy the rally, and celebrate the energy with our neighbors! [8:30pm -10:00pm]: Working the Line (Part 2) | After the event, we'll sweep the line of attendees waiting to take a photo with James Talarico ### How to Prepare Before you arrive, please make sure you attend our **[mandatory online volunteer training](https://www.mobilize.us/poweredxpeople/event/908390/)** on Zoom. This training will get you fully up to speed on the flow of our events and teach you exactly how to navigate the Reach app. ### Where to Meet & Park - **Meeting Location**: TBA - **Volunteer Parking**: TBA ### What to Bring To set yourself up for a successful shift, please bring the following items: - Your fully charged smartphone with the Reach app already installed - A water bottle to stay hydrated - Comfortable shoes (you will be on your feet talking to voters!) - **If you are a VDR**: Please bring your VDR certificate/number for the counties where you have VDR reciprocity _Note: Clipboards, pens, voter registration forms, and all other necessary materials will be provided at the check-in table, but feel free to bring your own backup supplies just in case!_ Let's keep building on our momentum and ensure every single Texan counts.
