About
# NO MORE DEATHS. NOT ONE MORE. STOP ICE KILLINGS On August 15, our community will gather at the Monrovia Home Depot to mark one year since the killing of Carlos Roberto Montoya-a day laborer, neighbor, and beloved community member whose life was taken during an ICE operation. The memorial is an act of remembrance and a public demand for justice. **We will honor Carlos and the many people who have died as a result of ICE's violence while calling attention to the systems and corporations that make these abuses possible.** The central message will be the urgency of this moment: Not one more life taken by ICE. Not one more family torn apart. Not one more death. This memorial will communicate that responsibility extends beyond ICE alone. Home Depot has repeatedly allowed immigration enforcement to target workers seeking employment in its parking lots, making the company complicit in a system that places immigrant workers in harm's way. **The event's most powerful visual–a procession of 25 coffins representing the 77 people who have died in ICE custody or enforcement operations–will become the best public statement of rage and resistance.** Each coffin should carry a short epitaph inviting people to learn the person's story, reminding the public that these are not statistics/numbers, but human beings with families, dreams, and communities who deserve to be remembered.
