About

DESCRIPTION: Travel with us from Herndon to the 63rd Anniversary of the “March on Washington” at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC, to DEFEND THE VOTE! We plan to meet at the Herndon Metro Station Platform at 8:00am. We will get off at the Smithsonian Metro Stop and walk to Lincoln Memorial and join with the National Action Network – hosts of the March. This is a return to the Lincoln Memorial for the 63rd anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington, to defend the vote, protect equal opportunity, and demand economic dignity. Co-chaired by Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King III, and Arndrea Waters King, and co-convened by the National Action Network and the Drum Major Institute, joined by a growing coalition of national, labor, faith, and civic partners. The right to vote is under direct attack. This march stands on the same ground as 1963 because the work of that march remains unfinished. The Core Goals of the March • Defend the Vote: Protect ballot access and voting rights against legislative rollbacks. • Protect Civil Rights: Defend equal opportunity and representation. • Economic Justice: Push for fair wages, affordable housing, and community health resources. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
