About
Join us on August 29 as we participate in the weekend of witness to end ICE detention at the Miami Correctional Facility. We are a group of residents of Hendricks County, and members of the Plainfield Friends Meeting, Fairfield Friends Meeting, and Plainfield United Methodist Church, and want to make our voices heard about the inhumane treatment of our immigrant neighbors and community. There are over 600 detainees in this high-risk facility, with more beds being planned. We know that over 70% of immigrants in detention have no criminal record despite the claims of our government and decision-makers. Please join us as we hear from speakers and clergy, and sing in this peaceful vigil to show our hope for the end of this detention crisis. This is a family-friendly event, so please ensure all signs and messages reflect that intent. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
