About

This a local Indivisible event! In solidarity with the March on Washington to Defend Our Vote on August 28th, we are organizing a Honk and Wave to honor our duty to vote in November and to defend our right to continue to vote in free and fair elections. This date was chosen for the event in Washington as it commemorates the 63rd anniversary of Martin Luther King's March on Washington and his famous I Have A Dream address. We gather with the dream that each citizen, regardless of race, religion, or gender can continue to vote in free and fair elections in this country with everyone's constitutional rights protected. Since it is on a Friday, we have elected to have the event after dinner so that those who are working can still join us. Bring your signs that reflect the importance of voting and bring your enthusiasm. We will provide water for participants. If you need a chair, please bring one if you can. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
