Brooklyn, NY: Stop the Gowanus Gas Plant!
Thursday, September 24, 2026, 6:00 PM EDT
Gowanus Generating Station, Brooklyn, New York
About
The last thing New York City needs is another fracked gas power plant! The Gowanus Generating Station is an antiquated fracked gas plant that floats on barges along the Brooklyn waterfront. It's also a major source of toxic emissions in the area, causing harm to both people and the planet and costing New Yorkers extra on their energy bills. The plant is set to be shut down in 2029 per state regulations, but its private equity owners are pushing to replace it with a brand-new, BIGGER gas plant that would drive up greenhouse gas emissions and energy prices. Join us on Thursday, September 24, to tell Governor Hochul: No Gowanus Gas Plant!
