About

Please join us for our 78th consecutive community rally to Defend Democracy in beautiful downtown Bethel. Our overall theme is Defending Democracy. On Saturday, August 29th, 11am - 12:00pm (60 mins), we will show solidarity with our community ravaged by ICE violence this week. (Tip: If viewing on facebook or mobilize, it is easier to read the full Bethel rally announcement with pictures here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fFSc9DnUajNFwblDXDUaJVLO9tZT7uHCbuojFhgdwq8/edit?usp=drivesdk “All we’re ever asked to do in this life is to treat our neighbor – especially our neighbor who is in need – exactly as we would hope to be treated ourselves. That’s our ultimate responsibility.” — Fred Rogers We witnessed many days of terror in the Hat City and in some surrounding towns. Another day of fear. Another day of families worried about their loved ones. Another day where our community was forced to live with the reality of what is happening around us. But we cannot let fear win. We will protect our community. We will show up for each other. We will stand together. And this Saturday, we need you. Your presence matters. Your voice matters. Four opportunities to make a difference: MASS DAY OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH & CANVASSING Kennedy Park, Danbury 9:00 AM Spend the morning out in our community, knocking on doors, visiting local businesses, sharing information, checking in on our neighbors, and making sure people know where they can turn for support. BETHEL DEFENDS DEMOCRACY RALLY 11:00 -12pm Display our banners and messages: ICE OUT Immigrants Are Welcome Here No Detention Centers No Concentration Camps …..and more HANDS ACROSS THE HUDSON Sunday, Aug 30th 1-3pm (Details below) Join our Western CT contingent by wearing our identifying button you’ll receive on Sunday. This is a chance to join an event that will be visually impactful, have media coverage and also send a message to politicians that we are not small isolated groups, but a powerful and connected movement! A DAY WITHOUT IMMIGRANTS STRIKE & MARCH Wednesday September 2 Danbury Public Library 5:00 PM Bring a friend. Bring your family. Bring your voice. We cannot stop what is happening alone. But together, we can make sure our community knows. “A Day Without Immigrants” isn’t about causing chaos. It’s about showing what happens when the people who work, build, clean, cook, care for, deliver, create, and keep this city moving decide to stand together. They keep talking about immigrants like they’re a problem to be removed. So let’s remind them that behind every statistic is a person, a family, a worker, a business owner, a parent, a neighbor. One day. One city. One community. Let’s show Danbury what happens when the people who make this city what it is decide to stand together. OUR COMMUNITY WORKS. OUR COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTES. OUR COMMUNITY DESERVES RESPECT. STAND TOGETHER. ************************ See the full Bethel rally announcement with pictures here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fFSc9DnUajNFwblDXDUaJVLO9tZT7uHCbuojFhgdwq8/edit?usp=drivesdk Please don’t attend the rally if you cannot refrain from engaging with agitators. ************ Never miss information about upcoming rallies by registering for our rally newsletter, bit.ly/BethelRalliesNewsletter (case sensitive).
