You don't have to march to come; if you'd rather watch the parade and meet us afterward, you're just as welcome. Food and drinks provided No RSVP is required beyond signing up here, but it helps us get a headcount to the restaurant. About the parade Now in its 88th year, the Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade is presented by the City of Gaithersburg and the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department. It features high school marching bands, dance groups, costumed characters, antique cars and fire engines, equestrian units, and community organizations winding through Olde Towne. New route this year The parade steps off at Russell and Odendhal Avenues, heads down Russell Avenue past Asbury Methodist Village, turns left onto East Diamond Avenue, and ends at East Diamond Avenue and Melvin Street. Following the parade there's food, activities, and a community celebration in the Gaithersburg Community Museum parking lot at 9 S. Summit Ave. and at Olde Towne Plaza along East Diamond Avenue. What to know before you come Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. It's a warm walk with no shade at the start. Limited free parking is available at the Olde Towne Parking Garage at Olde Towne and South Summit Avenues, near the parade's end. Accessible parking is available behind the Victor Litz store on the north side of Diamond Avenue and behind the Shell station on South Summit Avenue. Shuttle service this year is limited to registered parade participants only, so plan your own parking. The parade route ends about a mile from where it starts. If you drive, consider parking near the end and walking to the start that also puts you close to the after party. The Olde Towne Parking Garage is a couple of blocks from Mayan Monkey, so it's a convenient spot for the whole day.
