About
## Tell Portland City Council: Protect Portlanders from Zenith **Portland City Council is voting this Wednesday on the proposed transfer of Zenith Energy to I Squared Capital, and they need to hear from us.** Last year, Portland City Council called for an investigation into Zenith after serious concerns were raised about the company's operations, compliance with its franchise agreement, environmental safety, and transparency. That resolution passed Council with an **11–1 vote** and called for greater accountability and investigation into potential violations of Zenith's franchise agreement. Unfortunately, the investigation that followed did not adequately address many of the questions and concerns Council and community members raised. Now, the City is considering allowing **Zenith Energy's franchise to be transferred to I Squared Capital.** Last month, the transfer passed out of the Committee of the Whole by a **7–5 vote**, despite continued concerns about environmental safety, oversight, transparency, and accountability. **This Wednesday, the transfer comes before the full Portland City Council, and this is an important opportunity for Portlanders to make our voices heard.** Join Oregon Working Families Party members and community partners to call on City Council to ensure any decision involving Zenith protects our communities and includes meaningful accountability and oversight. ## Make Your Voice Heard You can **join us at City Hall and/or submit written or verbal public testimony.** **Sign up to testify:** https://links-2.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Fwww.portland.gov%2Fcouncil-clerk%2Ftestimony-registration%3Fdoc_id=61335%26utm_medium=email%26utm_source=govdelivery/2/010101a05e71c0d9-62f67da5-0a11-4b98-a33d-c64e13352282-000000/ucZLblWlSNw9_2h0AoKTXMk6NvU9KsegIvni2LlkbuA=452 **RSVP to let us know you're coming and invite a friend to join you!** When decisions have major consequences for our environment, our health, and our communities, Portlanders deserve transparency and a meaningful voice in the process.
