About

Join friends and neigbors at 5 Corners in Essex Junction, Vermont on Thursday, September 3 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. We're gathering to honor the memory of Pierre Damas Bel, a 20-year-old freshman at Wright State University. He was a varsity soccer player, a member of the National Honor Society and the U.S. Marines Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. He planned to study neuroscience in college and go on to medical school. On Monday, distraught over losing Temporary Protected Status, and being required to wear an ankle monitor, he died by suicide, walking into traffic on Interstate 70 in Springfield, Ohio. Please bring a sign mounring the death of Pierre, or rejecting the cruelty of the Administration's treatment of immigrants. This event is hosted by 5 Corners Resists and Champlain Valley Indivisible. There is free public parking available in the Town Hall lot, in the community lot behind FireBird, and in the lot along the Crescent Connector. ***A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
