About
OK, friends, we packed the Hendersonville City Council meeting on 9/3 with a standing-room-only crowd, now let's do it again for the Henderson County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday, 9/8. Did you know that within the City of Hendersonville & Henderson County there are 39 Flock Cameras, or automated license plate readers (ALPRs)? These cameras were implemented at taxpayer expense and without public input. We are now demanding accountability from our elected officials and our law enforcement agencies. If mass surveillance concerns you, please join PERSIST of Henderson County and allies at the commissioners meeting at the Historic Courthouse, 1 Historic Courthouse Square, Hendersonville. We will begin showing up about 5-5:15 to sign up to speak and to again pass out hand-held "No Flock Cameras" signs to audience members. That meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. If you kept your sign from the City Council meeting, please bring it with you, along with your passion and your voices to demand an end to the use of these systems in our county. The next version of these cameras is already in development, with even farther-reaching AI capabilities than those now in use. This is a non-partisan, non-political issue that should concern everyone.
