It happens every time you scroll social media: a ‘miracle cure’ for your chronic disease, a crypto tip that looks like it’s from Elon Musk, or even a “government grant” that’ll help you fix up your house. Tech platforms have become a playground for predators and scammers alike, and while ordinary people are scammed out of their life savings, tech billionaires are getting rich from it. On September 30, 2026, we invite you to join us at the National Day of Action to stop online scams in Madison, featuring State Senator Kelda Roys, who will speak about what we can do here in Wisconsin to fight online scams and protect consumers. A coalition of civil society groups are coming together to organize a virtual webinar and in-person events across the country, and we will learn how we can protect ourselves and loved ones from online scams and hold the companies to account.
