FAMILIES WHO LIVE IN THE SMOKE WILL CONFRONT MISSOURI'S ELECTRIC CO-OPS AT THEIR OWN CONVENTION While Missouri's electric cooperative executives gather in Branson for their annual meeting, the people breathing the smoke from one co-op's contractor fires will be standing outside asking why nobody made it stop. Residents near Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative contractor's burn sites — including neighbors who fear real health damage, say they've endured months of open burning next to their homes. WHAT: Public demonstration outside AMEC's Annual Meeting, timed to the arrival of Missouri's 47 electric cooperative leaders. WHEN: Tuesday, September 29, 2026, 8:00AM WHERE: Chateau on the Lake Resort, Spa & Convention Center – public entrance. See day prep manual for map. WHY: This isn't an abstract policy dispute. Residents living next to PCEC contractor burn sites say they've had acrid smoke drifting over their property for months, with no warning of what's being burned or when. PCEC has refused to require its contractors to document what they burn or stop burning debris near homes altogether. LOGISTICS: Team A will meet at 7:30 in the designated location for coffee and day prep. Team B will handle flyers from 8-9 and take over at 10am. Refer to the 5C day prep manual for more detail.
