Big Orange Fraud - UTK Protest 9/26
Saturday, September 26, 2026, 9:00 AM CDT
Knoxville, Tennessee
About
Join College Democrats at UTK, Knox County Young Democrats, Vols United for Change, and United Volunteers of Tennessee as we go on the offense. We’re gathering Saturday morning for a public demonstration near campus to reject the political spectacle surrounding the Tennessee-Texas showdown and make one thing clear: Neyland is for football. SATURDAY, SEPT. 26 | 10 AM–12 PM WAR DOG MEMORIAL 2407 River Dr. Neyland Greenway next to the memorial When Vol Nation screams “Go Big Orange!” on game day, organizers are putting a little extra emphasis on the first word: GO. As in hit the road. Beat it. Keep it moving. It was never supposed to be an invitation for Donald Trump to turn one of the biggest matchups of Tennessee’s season into a national political spectacle. Saturday’s Tennessee-Texas showdown belongs to Knoxville, the Vols, and the fans filling Neyland Stadium. And Trump’s appearance comes only months after he publicly criticized the current state of college athletics while discussing NIL and player compensation, declaring: “College sports are a disaster.” So organizers have a pretty obvious question: if college sports are such a disaster, why make Neyland the destination now? We know why, and Knoxville residents, UT students, and community organizations aren’t planning to sit quietly on the sidelines. We’ll be gathering Saturday morning for a stationary public demonstration with signs and banners before kickoff - using our voices, showing up for our community, and making sure the weekend isn’t defined only by the political spectacle surrounding the visit. Please RSVP for day-of updates. Because of increased security and potential traffic, roadway, or pedestrian restrictions surrounding the presidential visit, the exact gathering point may need to shift Saturday morning. UT has already advised attendees to expect enhanced security and delays.
