Bethel Defends Democracy: We Get To The Other Side By Going Through It

Are you a Doors fan? Break on through to the other side…. Please join us for our 83rd consecutive community rally to Defend Democracy in beautiful downtown Bethel. Our overall theme is Defending Democracy. On Saturday, Oct 3rd 11am - 12:00pm (60 mins), we will: We Get To The Other Side By Going Through It (Tip: If viewing on facebook or mobilize, it is easier to read the full Bethel rally announcement with pictures here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hd7wA2fyijfxxPFDS-A2PY5fSmLklKptvQpDHyHkDTo/edit?usp=drivesdk We will be needing extra setup and packup help the next few weeks for the rallies. Please let us know if you can help. ******************** Thanks to all of you who were able to attend or sent memories for David Stevenson’s tribute last Saturday. Some pictures are on our website and here is the video we will be sharing with David’s family: https://youtu.be/UbcR6h4ZcwQ We will have our 2 cards for his family at this week’s rally one last time and I will also bring this special canvas we had at the tribute if others want to participate. We wrote messages to David on this canvas. To continue David’s legacy, we are collecting donations for a non-profit that held meaning for him. We’ll have a separate donation box at the rallies for the next couple of weeks or you can venmo me at: (please put in the notes that this is for David) https://venmo.com/code?user_id=3010484873723904525&created=1790092559 Melissa and her button team made these special buttons for us to honor what David stood for. We have a few left that we’ll bring to the rally. ************************* Election day is 31 days from this week’s rally. But we don’t have to wait until then. We can start voting in 16 days from this week’s rally!! We are not in a full fascist state YET - but we could be headed there unless we use our major power: Our Voice - which includes public protests, private resistance, voting and more! Getting people to vote in such large numbers that the outcome is indisputable, even if the government tries to claim otherwise. Getting people registered to vote - and then out to vote - is a critical task of resistance. Not voting is a big part of why we are here. The GOP has made voter suppression a central part of their strategy. Why would the GOP do this if voting wasn’t an important step in our movement to defeat facism? So let’s keep on going. The only way to get to the other side is to keep on moving forward and going through it no matter what the regime throws at us. We are strong. We are even stronger now because we are doing this together. Let’s focus on getting everyone to vote early and having every vote counted. You may be familiar with the famous children's book, “ We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen”. "We can't go over it, we can't go under it, oh no, we've got to go through it!” *********************** See the full Bethel rally announcement with pictures here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hd7wA2fyijfxxPFDS-A2PY5fSmLklKptvQpDHyHkDTo/edit?usp=drivesdk Please don’t attend the rally if you cannot refrain from engaging with agitators. ************ Never miss information about upcoming rallies by registering for our rally newsletter, bit.ly/BethelRalliesNewsletter (case sensitive).
