About
The Joey Norris trial starts Tuesday, October 6 and is expected to last 2-3 days. A rally is scheduled for Wednesday morning, October 7 at 8:00 am on the town square park. Joey will speak and so will former representative Steve King. Sign up here and we can more easily keep you updated on times and share trial information with you. Poll workers – the everyday folks who run our elections – are the backbone of our elections here in Iowa. Without them, we don’t have a democracy. That’s why we were shocked in July to learn about the arrest of Joey Norris, a poll worker in Montgomery County. Joey pointed out mistakes in the absentee counting process of the 2024 election. The county auditor didn’t like that and asked him to leave the counting room, which Joey did. He thought that was the end of it. But 20 months later, he was arrested in July and charged with felony election misconduct by Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird’s office. Our election process relies on poll workers to do the right thing – but in this case, a poll worker is being charged with a felony for rightfully asking questions. Aren’t poll workers who notice election rules being ignored supposed to speak up? For all the details and to stay updated, register here. This case is a politically motivated attack on our democracy that affects every voter in Iowa. Brenna Bird needs to see that Iowans won’t stand for Trump-style attacks on poll workers. We hope you can join us in whatever way you can show support.
