About
Please join us for our 83rd consecutive community rally to Defend Democracy in beautiful downtown Bethel. Our overall theme is Defending Democracy. On Saturday, Oct 10th, 11am - 12:30pm (90 mins), we will support Bethel’s SafeWalk, the premier event by the Center for Empowerment and Education (CEE). The core message of the event is to unite the community to stand with survivors, raise critical awareness, and fund life-changing, no-cost, and confidential support services for individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence. The recent news about the Cornell students, including someone from Bethel, makes this an even more timely theme. We Stand With Survivors: Break The Silence. End the Violence. (Tip: If viewing on facebook or mobilize, it is easier to read the full Bethel rally announcement with pictures here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1plKay3K3WR8JYHp3Nndap-STPlgFxMiX3H5iUn-w2iM/edit?usp=drivesdk We will be needing extra setup and packup help the next few weeks for the rallies. Please let us know if you can help. ******************** Bethel’s SafeWalk teams will be marching starting at 11:30am from the Bethel Municipal Center. They will be doing two loops of the same march that we do for No Kings: walking up Library Place, down Greenwood Ave and then past PT Barnum Square to return to the Municipal Center. Let’s make signs with messages for them, cheer when they pass by or join them on the walk when they pass by! We will stop our other protest messages to show solidarity and support for this extremely important cause. You can make signs ahead of time and we’ll also have our sign-making supplies on hand at the rally. Some suggested messages: Domestic & Sexual Violence Awareness Slogans • Break the Silence. End the Violence. • Love Shouldn’t Hurt. • Every Survivor Deserves a Safe Space. • Stand with Survivors, Empower the Future. • No Excuse for Abuse. Others: • Walking for a Future Free of Violence. • Step by Step, We Build Safer Communities. • United for Peace, Safety, and Education. • Empowering Survivors with Every Step. ********************** VOTE EARLY!! In America, we have no kings. The people choose their leaders. Leaders do not get to choose who votes, whose voices count, or what future our communities deserve. ….or disruptions by the regime on election day could jeopardize your ability to vote! Let’s all bank our votes early. Voting early gives us the power to make our voices heard on our own terms, before Election Day, before the last-minute chaos, and before anyone else can decide what happens next. Election day is 24 days from this week’s rally. But we don’t have to wait until then. We can start voting in 9 days from this week’s rally!! Let’s focus on getting everyone to vote early and having every vote counted. There are millions more of us than there are of them. And when we act together, our power is bigger than anything. *********************** See the full Bethel rally announcement with pictures here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1plKay3K3WR8JYHp3Nndap-STPlgFxMiX3H5iUn-w2iM/edit?usp=drivesdk Please don’t attend the rally if you cannot refrain from engaging with agitators. ************ Never miss information about upcoming rallies by registering for our rally newsletter, bit.ly/BethelRalliesNewsletter (case sensitive).
