MSU Walkout to Freeze AI
Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 11:30 AM EDT
Hannah Administration Building, East Lansing, Michigan
About
A tiny handful of tech billionaires are building AI that threatens **our jobs, our freedoms, and humanity itself.** They're using it to steal our work, wreck job prospects, pollute our air and water, and surveil and endanger all of us, and they're buying the politicians whose job is to keep them in check. We deserve elected leaders who will fight alongside us to regulate Big Tech and make sure ALL of us have a say and a stake in the future of AI, not just a handful of Silicon Valley execs. So **on October 20th**, on campuses and communities across the country, thousands of us are walking out to demand **an immediate freeze on new AI development**, until we the people secure **a say, a stake, and strong safeguards**. Join us on MSU campus for a walkout at 11:30! We’ll gather together, share about how unregulated AI has impacted our lives, jobs, communities, and futures, and call for an immediate freeze on AI development now. Whether you're a neighbor worried about data center pollution, a student worried about job prospects, a parent concerned about kids' development and mental health, join us. Because Big Tech won't regulate themselves! After our kickoff, we'll talk about how we can take action together to connect the grassroots fight for real AI regulation to power at the ballot box. Bring your signs and your friends!
